What Do I Have to Do to Get Take-Out Around Here?!

You might think if a pizza joint chose to locate near Riverwest it would happily deliver pizzas to its nearby neighbors. Not so, say many Riverwest residents. Kurt Schwanz, who bought a house less than a year ago near the intersection of Booth and Meinecke Streets, was astounded to find out he couldn’t get a pizza delivered to his house. Josie Osborne, who lives on Booth Street in the northern part of Riverwest, recalls being unable to get a pizza delivered to her house when she first moved in and wanted to treat her friends who had helped her move.

History of Riverwest to be Published Next Year

“The story of Riverwest’s history soon became an albatross. Tom finished it in 1982, but there was no money left to publish it. Fred Olson, a history professor at UWM, decided to copy and place the manuscript in several local libraries. It can be found at the MLK Library on King Drive and Locust, and at the East Library on North Avenue.”

Sometimes, life can be hard to figure out. Former Riverwest residents Melissa and Matthew Karpowicz were confronted with that reality last year when Melissa’s aunt and uncle, Constance and Gary Kadlee, passed away less than two months apart, leaving behind three school-aged children.
