One Love and Killer Rhythms in Beer City

“You gotta make people feel the music,” agrees a selector in a video interview, stressing the need for a selector to have “talent and confidence.” He then jokes about putting a lot of ordinary DJs out of business after coming back from Jamaica, but the joke probably has some truth to it. The audience at Thai Joe’s is not allowed to remain standing. This is dancehall music, and you’re going to dance.

Burning Snow Center

The Institute for Thought will also host a lecture at UWM’s architecture and urban planning department this fall, and Griswold has worked with the sheriff’s department, fire department, and mayor to make it safe and legal to practice spinning poi (two kevlar balls at the end of chains dipped in flammable liquid and spun around, unsurprisingly popular at a festival that climaxes with the burning of a 40-foot statue of a man).

At the Downer Theater

Eudemon parked the car in front of the Downer Theater. It was Thursday night and he and his partner wanted to see “Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working with Time.” It was easy. The parking spot was there, so why not? “We’re early, let’s get something to eat at Henry’s.” So they had a veggie burger and salad and a couple of drinks in the cozy bar restaurant just around the corner.
