Lanterns for Peace 8/9

Peace Action’s 17th annual Lanterns for Peace event on Saturday, August 9, will be part of an expanded program, “Rhythms for a Nuclear Free World,” featuring a variety of world music. The concert begins at 4 p.m. at Pere Marquette Park, 900 N. Plankinton in downtown Milwaukee. It will feature De La Buena’s salsa and world music, Taqsim with its unique middle eastern jazz, and Lucky Diop with his Kassumai African Band and Dancers. And much more…

At the Downer Theater

Eudemon parked the car in front of the Downer Theater. It was Thursday night and he and his partner wanted to see “Rivers and Tides: Andy Goldsworthy Working with Time.” It was easy. The parking spot was there, so why not? “We’re early, let’s get something to eat at Henry’s.” So they had a veggie burger and salad and a couple of drinks in the cozy bar restaurant just around the corner.

He has created a stir with his “Train” series, a 40-painting study of national and global race relations focusing on African descendants and whites, though the above painting is not part of that series.
