Tournament set for Saturday and Sunday: If you ever wanted to see a great game of wheelchair rugby, now’s your chance. Milwaukee Recreation has teamed with Milwaukee Iron to sponsor the city’s largest Quad Rugby tournament, an extremely competitive event for wheelchair athletes. The games are set to take place at Riverside University High School, 1615 E. Locust St., on Saturday, February 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Sunday, February 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Eleven games will be played during the two-day tournament, and the winning teams will advance to sectional rounds for a chance to go to the national Quad Rugby competition. “Our players possess a dedication to this sport that is truly awe-inspiring,” says Dan Lehmann of Milwaukee Iron, the competition’s co-sponsor. “It’s a competitive game, but it’s also a lot of fun. Quad Rugby has a positive impact on people’s lives.” Milwaukee Recreation is a non-profit department of Milwaukee Public Schools, established in 1911 to provide the entire community with affordable and enriching recreational activities.
