Where Will They Sleep? New Dorms on East Side

It won’t be in Riverwest. Althought three of the eight sites that submitted proposals for a dorm were in Riverwest, none were finalists. You may be relieved or disappointed, depending on your perspective. Alderman Nic Kovac is hoping to get open minded feedback on the three remaining locations under consideration.

Some people, when compelled to take action regarding a specific issue, will demonstrate or protest. Others, like the Earth Poets, take action with words.

On April 18 and 19 the Earth Poets will be joined by various musicians at the Urban Ecology Center and the Coffee House to address environmental issues, and call people to action through their poetry and lyrics.

Aldermanic candidates for Milwaukee’s 3rd District speak out

The Question:

What is your strategy to coordinate a plan for the Hometown development site at the east end of the North Avenue bridge? 

There are three powerful stakeholders in this issue: Mandel, the developer; the East North Avenue BID; and the community groups gathered under the Milwaukee River Work Group who have a zoning proposal before the Council that impacts future development.
