Heads Up: Primary Election – Tuesday Feb. 17

If you enjoyed making a difference in our federal government by exercising your right to vote, don’t stop now. On Feb. 17 you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference in how our schools in Wisconsin and Milwaukee are run. School Board Election The Milwaukee Public School Board is up for some changes. In District 4, long-time board member Charlene Hardin is running as a write-in candidate, because the Election Commission ruled that she didn’t have enough signatures on her nomination papers for her name to appear on the ballot.

COMMUNITY CASH? Efforts are underway to create a local currency, potentially for use in Riverwest and beyond. The goals of the currency include supporting local businesses, cultivating community self-reliance, strengthening our local economy, and fostering environmental, social and economic sustainability. Celebrate the “Summer of Peace”

Summer of Peace is a youth-led initiative to promote community unity and nonviolence. The highly anticipated 6th Annual Summer of Peace Citywide Youth Rally and Peace Summit on August 8 will bring together youth and community leaders for a daylong event.
