Riverwest Breaks the Rules Again!
Scandalous Readings of Banned Books
The ACLU of Wisconsin Foundation and Woodland Pattern Book Center join forces on October 14 to present a celebration of beloved banned books. Learn about censorship attempts in and around Southeastern Wisconsin.
Then, what you really came for, excerpts from the “hot” books.
Invited readers include Peggy Hong, Angie Trudell Vasquez, Kiki Anderson, Anne Kingsbury, and Angela Lang, President of the ACLU of WI Student Alliance at UW-Milwaukee. Event takes place from 7 to 8:30PM. Reception begins at 6:30PM.
This event is part of the 2009 Milwaukee Book Festival. Throughout the 10-day festival, a wide range of events will take place at venues around the greater Milwaukee area. Fiction, nonfiction, poetry – readings, talks, discussions – there’s truly something for everyone at this year’s Book Festival. Please check page 10, for a listing of all Festival events.
The 2009 Milwaukee Book Festival was organized by representatives from Boswell Book Company, Carroll University, Literacy Services of Wisconsin, Marquette University, Milwaukee Public Library, Next Chapter Bookshop, Redbird-RedOak Writing, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and Woodland Pattern Book Center.
