Several Riverwest/Harambee residents were recently honored with Mayor’s Landscape Awards, which recognize outstanding landscaping efforts. Friends, family, and members of the general public were all on hand at the Midwest Airline Center on March 21, as Mayor Marvin Pratt presented the awards, including awards for two homes in each aldermanic district as well as individual awards for best commercial landscape, most imaginative, best religious institution, best school, best rooftop, best public building, and best balcony. The event, now in its 10th year, is sponsored by Greening Milwauke and was established to promote the enrichment of the urban environment through greening activities. Entries for 2004 will be accepted beginning June 1, and, in partnership with The Wild Ones, will include a new category: natural landscaping.
