Live hip hop in the Midwest takes on a whole new meaning where the Taste Emcees are concerned. The Taste, Milwaukee’s hip hop sensation, attracted a diverse crowd of Riverwest listeners to a concert at Onopa Brewery last month. Trav O, Mr. G. Murray, and King Shenzi Rek of the Taste Emcees gave a mind-blowing performance. They brought the stage to life with positive lyrics, uplifting beats, and flawless stage presence…and they know how to please a crowd! Dressed in earth-tone colors and baggy apparel, their mere presence is stimulating. Fans of varying age and race swarmed the stage to inhale hip hop in its purest form. Their message will inspire you; Trav O’s flow will leave you awed, while group dynamics resurrect the true art of hip hop that has long since been absorbed by an industry clouded with guns, drugs, sex, and violence. Each song will leave you with a taste of inspiration, not to mention a hunger for more! The Riverwest Currents would like to thank the Taste Emcees for an outstanding performance in a concert where most of the proceeds benefited the newspaper. We also extend a special thanks to Armagideon, Bushman, Fader Gremlins, Onopa, and all those in the neighborhood who contributed to a successful benefit.
