The Milwaukee Venue Project
by Jeremy Berg
Teenagers, perhaps more than any other social group, are always on the lookout for somewhere to go, something to do, somewhere to be. Here in Beer City, that’s not always easy to find. The members of the Milwaukee Venue Project (MVP) are of the opinion that a change is necessary.
Prairie Dog
by Vince Bushell
I know trying to define one’s public persona is near impossible, and it may be presumptuous of me to assume I have one. However, publishing a paper puts me in a situation akin to an ambitious prairie dog that is constantly sticking his head up out of his hole. Sooner or later someone is going to take a shot at the dog.
Kellner Greenhouses
by Kevin Flaherty
Perhaps it is only fitting that Kellner Greenhouses, an oasis of green amidst an urban neighborhood, sits squarely in the Riverwest neighborhood at 3258 N. Humboldt Blvd. After all, Riverwest is a neighborhood of contrasts: luxury condos co-exist with urban poverty; bungalow and duplex residences abut gritty machine shops and heavy industry; and small retailers like the Riverwest Co-op and Kellner reside blocks from the corporate monoliths they compete with like Jewel-Osco and Wal-Mart.
Business Spotlight: Companion Natural Pet Food
Eating natural food is a priority for many in the neighborhood, who work for or shop at stores like the Riverwest Co-op, Beans and Barley, and Outpost Natural Foods. And you can’t walk too far on a nice day without seeing someone out walking a dog.
So what better place for a natural pet food business?
