There have been reports of some motorbikeson the river trails recently,
NORTHERN LIGHTS – Local musician and producer Paul Setser recently collaborated with Currents publisher Vince Bushell and two UWM students, Ulrike Galasinski and Angel Howman, to produce “Northern Lights,” a halfhour science fiction radio play written in the late 1940s. In addition to directing the talent, adding sound effects, and editing the audio, Setser also provided the original music throughout the show. It’s available on the Riverwest Currents website as a free MP3 download. Go to riverwestcurrents.org and click on the “Catching the Wooly Bear by its Tale” article link and follow the directions from there.
CHILI MADNESS – Once again, local radio station WMSE plans to holds its Rockabilly Chili contest, and competition in Riverwest is hot and heavy. You won’t want to miss the Riverwest Co-op’s Chili Cook-off scheduled for Sun, Feb 22 at 5:30 PM at Club Timbuktu, 520 Center St. To enter your prized vegan or vegetarian recipe, contact Michelle Jones at virgotron@ hotmail.com; deadline is Feb 15. Then go to the WMSE competition and vote vote vote on Sun, March 8, 11AM- 4PM at the MSOE Kern Center.
“When I first moved to the RiverView residence hall, I thought the Riverwest neighborhood was a happening place where I could get involved. The parks are gorgeous, and there are many people milling along the streets,” says Amy Budnowski, freshman at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee about her first impression of the Riverwest neighborhood and community. “I love to go to the parks and I have run along the river paths multiple times as well.”

It won’t be in Riverwest. Althought three of the eight sites that submitted proposals for a dorm were in Riverwest, none were finalists. You may be relieved or disappointed, depending on your perspective. Alderman Nic Kovac is hoping to get open minded feedback on the three remaining locations under consideration.
