Poetry at Woodland Pattern
Chuck Stebelton, who became literary pro-gramming manager of Woodland Pattern in August, recently moved to Milwaukee from Chicago where he had been curating the Poetry Series at Myopic Books. Stebelton replaces Stacy Szymaszek, who is now the programming manager at the St. Mark’s Poetry Project in New York City. Stebelton is the winner of the 2004 Jack Spicer Award for Circulation Flowers, a poetry volume recently published by Tougher Disguises.
When Artists Are Your Neighbors
On Saturday, November 12, the Marcus Center will be hosting a second “Performance Art Showcase” featuring local talents in Vogel Hall at 8 pm. This show simply wouldn’t be happening if it weren’t for Riverwest.
Experimental Films at Woodland Pattern
Besides bringing the best of contemporary poetry and music to the Milwaukee arts scene, Woodland Pattern also hosts the Experimental Film and Video Series. The series presents 10-12 screenings of experimental film per year on the last Friday of the month. Carl Bogner, a 43-year-old instructor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, has curated the series for the past five years. Bogner has also programmed the Milwaukee Gay and Lesbian Film Festival for the past eight years.
