I need to get in shape. On a pleasant spring afternoon I rode with Paul Kjelland and Mike McGarry, two of the event organizers of RW24, along the route of the upcoming 24-hour Riverwest bike race. They wanted to check for potential kinks and checkpoint changes.

“My friend, Swami’s nephew, would bring me pure cow ghee from a remote village, by the bucket loads. I was making sure that Sativa got enough, because in Ayurveda, toward the end of the pregnancy, you want to make sure that [the expectant mother] eats a lot of ghee. And the birth was pretty effortless. Both births were pretty much the same. Ravi’s was a little bit longer. But Sativa’s whole labor with Bodhi was, maybe, three hours. I avoided the explosive delivery, dipped out one shoulder and the other shoulder. They both had the cords wrapped around their necks, but I just unwrapped the cords and they were fine. It was just beautiful!”

March On Milwaukee!
PEOPLE who have taken part in protests and group actions report a kind of euphoria – some say it’s as powerful as falling in love. “Action fever,” they call it.
Milwaukee audiences are sure to feel some emotional heat if they attend March On Milwaukee, Margaret Rozga’s dramatic memoir. The scene with Christmas carolers outside the home of the landlord who refused to rent to Ronald Britton, a black Viet Nam vet, is guaranteed to bring a lump to the throat. Perhaps a blush to the cheek.
The play will be presented at 7 pm on Thursday, September 27 at the Humphrey Scottish Rite Center, 790 N. Van Buren St. It will kick off a weekend of events commemorating the open housing marches of 1967.
