Bicycles: A Solution to Some of Milwaukee’s Problems

Milwaukee’s slavish devotion to the automobile causes more problems than it solves. Everyone implicitly understands that an automobile is a nearly a necessity for living around Milwaukee. This supposed necessity is killing us both ecologically and sociologically; a solution might be bicycles. While the City has tried to increase the use of bicycles in Milwaukee, who would argue that attempt is serious? A serious approach will greatly benefit the City.

I Ran With Scissors

Can you say it? Can you proudly say that you too have “run with scissors”? Well, now you can! That’s if you sign up of course for the first annual “I Ran With Scissors” 5K fun run sponsored by the Midwest Unconventional Sports Association. Registration is $25 and includes your t-shirt and of course, kindergarten grade scissors for the run. All proceeds benefit the Children’s Service Society of Wisconsin.

2ND ANNUAL COMMUNITY CONCERT & 9-11 CANDLELIGHT VIGIL THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 11, 6:30-9:00 PM in Gordon Park (Humboldt & Locust).

At 7:45 p.m., a special Candlelight Vigil will take place. Riverwest youth, who represent the future of the community and the world, will help distribute 500 candles to all concert-goers. The vigil will be led by Riverwest resident George Martin of Peace Action Wisconsin.
