It’s a two-pastor household on Humboldt Boulevard. Every Sunday morning Pastor April Berends heads for St. Mark’s Episcopal Church on North Hackett just off Downer Avenue where she is the rector. Husband Drew Bunting heads out to Resurrection Church in Mukwonago where he is the vicar.

The date is set for September 25, rain or shine. It’s almost time again for Center Street Daze, Riverwest’s last street party of the year.
Late September is generally still mild in Wisconsin, warm with a slight nip in the air to let us know old man winter could be lurking only a few weeks away. Of course, residents of Wisconsin know this is complete speculation – Wisconsin weather is less predictable than the stock market. However, this bash on Center is dedicated and will go on regardless of weather conditions. This year the weather will be gorgeous, I can feel it.

Commerce in Riverwest has been surprisingly robust despite the economic dump of the past year. Bliffert’s opened a brand new hardware store last spring. ReThreads recycled clothing popped up on Humboldt. The incredible Centro Café, Planet Scooter, and Jazz Gallery are drawing folks to Center Street. Diners are exploring Latino cuisine at Nina’s Restaurant and Café Corazon.
