A life-long resident of Milwaukee and successor of her first husband, Ben Johnson, to the Sixth District aldermanic council position, Marlene Johnson-Odom has seen much change in the city and has been part of city government for 24 years.
6th District Aldermanic Race: Michael McGee
Asked how he differs from his controversial father, McGee jokes about being branded the “son of Saddam,” and then follows that by saying he also has a mother, whose spirit tempered his dad’s confrontational approach. He also says, surprisingly, he is less conservative than his father now is. By that he means his dad takes a strong personal responsibility line when talking about young men and women who have made bad life decisions that have led to the dissolution of family. While agreeing that responsibility is important, McGee Jr. says “baby moms” and young fathers need another chance at life. He says we have to “address the problem as it exists,” rather than taking an idealized approach.
3rd District Aldermanic Race: Carole Wehner
Carole Wehner was born in Kenosha and moved to Milwaukee with her family at age 5. She grew up in Shorewood and attended UWM, UW-Madison, and MIAD before returning to UWM to graduate with a psychology degree. She has lived on the East Side for 28 years.
3rd District Aldermanic Race: Mike D’Amato
Michael S. D’Amato was born in 1962 in a little house on Booth Street. His parents immigrated from Italy to pursue the American Dream — which to them meant working hard and making enough money to move to Whitefish Bay.
