thirdward.jpg New From the Seventh Floor, an exhibition of paintings, drawings, mixed media and installation by 10 of Milwaukee’s most promising young artists, opens October 4 at MIAD with a reception for the artists Friday Oct. 7 from 6-8 pm. The exhibit is in the Frederick Layton Gallery, located in the college’s Jane Bradley Pettit Building, 273 E. Erie St. It continues through Oct. 29 and is open Tuesday through Saturday 10 am – 5 pm. Free admission. The Seventh Floor Studio artists draw their name from the location of their spaces on the seventh floor of a former South side factory building. They work in a variety of media and subject matter, but all share an intense commitment to studio work and have produced a sense of community within the group based on that principle. The exhibition includes more than four dozen recent works by group members Mary DiBiasio, Stephen Hambsch, Susan Kriofsky, John Lech, Keith Nelson, Dorota Biczel Nelson, Michael Roberts, Paul Stoelting, T. Oliver Sweet and Lindsey Wolkowicz.
