The Question:
What is your strategy to coordinate a plan for the Hometown development site at the east end of the North Avenue bridge?
There are three powerful stakeholders in this issue: Mandel, the developer; the East North Avenue BID; and the community groups gathered under the Milwaukee River Work Group who have a zoning proposal before the Council that impacts future development.
D’Amato Will Not Seek 3rd District Seat
Mike D’Amato, who has been Alderman of the 3rd District since 1996, is not seeking re-election. His legislative assistant, Sam McGovern-Rowen, has declared his intention to run, as have two Riverwesters, Sura Faraj and Nik Kovac (Kovac works with the Currents), and UWM student Andrew Twist.
Disagreement Over RNA Direction
Appearing this month instead of the usual editorial essay and reader letters, is an open letter from Nancy Vogel regarding her resignation from the Riverwest Neighborhood Association (RNA) board and a response from the RNA board. Vogel is the fifth board member to resign this year.
