skylinemusicThe eighth annual Skyline Music Series, hosted by COA Youth & Family Centers, will kick off Tuesday, July 8 in Kadish Park. The opening concert will feature a performance by the ten-piece Afro-Cubano and Latin and jazz group De La Buena. Art activities for youth will be provided by the Riverwest Artists Association, and food will be available from local vendors.
“Over the past seven seasons, we have seen Skyline Music grow to become a summer tradition for people of all ages who love great local music and an unparalleled view of the Milwaukee skyline,” said Mara Duckens, COA Associate Executive Director.
“With the addition of the Selig-Joseph-Folz Amphitheater last year, COA is now proudly providing a premier urban outdoor performance venue and positive family-centered programs for kids and parents, right in their own backyard,” said Duckens.
“The Skyline Music Series is a great way to just relax with all the wonderful people in this community,” said Wendy Mesich, long-time Riverwest resident and mother of two young girls. “The village atmosphere is really apparent.”
Free weekly Skyline Music concerts will be held Tuesdays at 5:30 PM through August 19. Scheduled musical acts include RAS Movement, Extra Crispy Brass Band, Tweed Funk, 5 Card Studs and the Urbanites. Skyline Music attracts over 5,500 individuals with multicultural music and activities for family audiences. It is currently the only free weekly concert series serving the Riverwest, Brewers Hill, Brady Street, Beerline, and Harambee neighborhoods.
