3rd District Alderman Miike D'Amato

Mike D’Amato, who has been Alderman of the 3rd District since 1996, is not seeking re-election. His legislative assistant, Sam McGovern-Rowen, has declared his intention to run, as have two Riverwesters, Sura Faraj and Nik Kovac (Kovac works with the Currents), and UWM student Andrew Twist. At press time, calls to D’Amato to confirm this story were not returned. City hall staffers have verified the story. Other election news: State Senator Lena Taylor and Joe Klein are running against County Executive Scott Walker. State Rep. Pedro Colon is challenging City Attorney Grant Langley who has held the office since 1984. Mayor Tom Barrett seems to be unopposed for now. Alderman McGee (6th) has requested papers for re-election despite his legal problems. Beginning Dec 1, candidates must circulate nomination papers and get signatures and submit them by Jan. 2 to the Election Commission. The spring Primary is Feb. 19 and the General Election is April 1.
