A new mural in honor of ArtWalk was created at 918 E. Center St. by Riverwest Artists Association member Melissa Dorn Richards, with the help of 12 children from La Escuela Fratney. It was unveiled Saturday, Sept. 25. ArtWalk is a walking tour in Riverwest that features over 100 established and emerging artists and performers, and over 40 sites will be included in the tour. ArtWalk 2004 will be held on Saturday, Oct. 2nd and Sunday, Oct. 3rd, from noon to 5 p.m. In addition to the walking tour, special events on the days of ArtWalk 2004 include children’s art activities at Gordon Park Pavilion, RAA’s member show at The Feed Shop, 918 E. Center St.; an exhibition of photographs by John Ruebartsch at the Art*Bar, 722 E. Burleigh St. and more. RAA anticipates more than 1,500 people attending ArtWalk 2004. ArtWalk 2004 is supported through the City of Milwaukee Arts Board, the Wisconsin Arts Board, the Milwaukee County Parks System, businesses, individual members of Riverwest Artists Association, and a gift from the Art*Bar. Tickets for Artwalk are available on the day of the event for $3 from Beginning Dreams Forever, 833 E. Burleigh St.; Riverwest Co-op, 733 E. Clarke St.; and other locations in the neighborhood.
