Center St.) Hello fellow RICcers, Lots going on as RIC continues to build momentum towards that first purchase. Come to the meeting and check us out-maybe become a member, or maybe just discover you have a highly valued talent you can use to help advance the cause! We have several important issues do address this Wednesday: Developing our first purchase financing plan, hearing from our property committee about prospective properties, assisting with the BIG speaking event, hearing from the market study committee on their project and from the marketing committee on the website and other projects. — Summary of Riverwest Investment Cooperative Meeting Minutes June 19, 2003, 7:00 pm, YMCA CDC I. June 5,2003 Minutes approved by motion. II. Marketing/PR Update -Meeting dates will be posted in the Riverwest Currents. An article or interview will be planned after our first purchase. Other possibilities: JS Real Estate Section, At Ten, Shepherd, RNA -Sign in front of purchased properties with our logo while work is being done. -Website is currently being refined. III. Finance Committee Update -Membership has grown to 15 full members. IV. Property -Our first potential property has been identified. Two members were given a tour with the representative of the seller and gave report. RIC members discussed availability and viability of the property as a RIC project with the sellers representative. V. Discussed possible nomination choices for the vacant at-large board position VI. Motion passed to participate in an upcoming speaker event. -Catherine Austin-Fitts community investment activist, former asst. secretary at HUD, will be presenting a lecture and workshop July 30-31 at Turner Hall. She is an expert on place-based investing. More information on what she speaks about can be found on www.solari.com. Another resource that will allow one to hear an analysis she gave on the Enron investigation can be found by searching her name after logging onto www.flashpoints.net/. She is described as presenting no particular political agenda in her presentations. -Target audience (based on San Francisco event) peace & justice movement sustainable living independent media -Lecture on July 30th: doors open 6:30, 7-9pm -Workshop on July 31st: 6:30-10:00 pm. -Tickets: $10 per day or $25 for both.
