Income qualified homeowners (owner-occupants) may apply for a home security grant of up to $1,200 for the following examples of security enhancements to their homes: deadbolt locks, window and door security bars, window pins, fencing, exterior lighting, security systems (except monthly monitoring fees), and door views. Dogs, barbed wire fencing and weapons are not funded by this program. The income guidelines are (80% of Milwaukee County median income) as follows:

Only 7 grants are available for the Riverwest area for 2003 and they will be filled on a first come first served basis. If you call immediately and can successfully provide the information on the three-page application you have a chance of being a grant recipient. The application requires proof of income. You must call and receive an application from Rick Slayton, Home Repairs Manager for the YMCA CDC, as the first step in the grant process.
