After months of construction, traffic can flow freely through Center Street again. This is welcome news for Center Street businesses, which have been eager to restore the flow of traffic to the area. While the concrete cured, city construction workers painted stripes and bike logos and installed new parking and bike lane signs. The wood telephone and light poles were replaced with stainless steel models, and the incandescent stop lights were replaced with new, brighter LED lights. The LED (Light Emitting Diode) lights last thousands of hours and are made up of a couple dozen small lights instead of one large light bulb. Usually, LED’s outlast their application.

Center Street Celebration to be held September 28

Center Street businesses are sponsoring a street party to be held on Saturday, September 28. Celebration organizer Erik Peterson already has scheduled seven bands and two DJs. The Center Street Celebration Organizers are looking for vendors (arts & crafts, products, services, nonprofit organizations, etc.). This would be a good time to promote products, coupons, and gift certificates for the upcoming holiday season. If you are interested, email Tess Reiss for an application or more information.
