Maybe you’ve noticed something different recently at Kilbourn Park — like the sights and sounds of kids having fun every day. For years, Kilbourn Park has been relatively empty, with almost no programming, no picnics, and few kids or families. Well, times are changing! Every weekday at Goldin Summer Day Camp, COA Youth & Family Centers (formerly Children’s Outing Association) is providing a great time in Kilbourn Park for Riverwest youth, ages 7-12. Programs begin at Kilbourn Park and each 2-week session includes field trips, swimming, arts & crafts, team sports, computers, library trips, and much more. Lunch and a snack are provided each day. There is still time to enroll. If you are interested in Goldin Summer Day Camp, daily teen activities, youth soccer, or swimming and canoeing, stop in at 909 E. North Ave or call the COA Registrar at 263-8383. For teens (13-18), COA Youth & Family Centers provides drop-in summer programs. This includes use of the full-size gym, swimming, trips to sports events, canoe trips, use of the computer lab (new computers and Roadrunner internet service), and a fun place to hang with friends. There’s a basketball team, a choir, a teen leadership council, and lots to do. The teens just went to a Brewers game — COA provides the tickets and transportion. Likewise the YMCA Holton Youth Center is bringing life to other Riverwest Parks with their summer YDay Camp. The camp provides kids and teens fun and learning they’ll never forget. Programming is scheduled at Kern Park, Pumping Station and Gordon Park (with its new splash pad) depending on the activity for the day and the age of the kids. There is a Kiddie Camp for 5 and 6 year olds and Summer Sports Camp and Adventure camp for 7 to 12 year olds. The Y Youth Super Sports offers an abudance of choices for 5 year olds to teens. Basketball, T-Ball, Coach Pitch, Intramural Coed Softball, Youth Golf are all available this summer. Its happening this summer in Riverwest and its happening at the YMCA Holton Youth Center. Call 264-9622 and ask for Day Camp registration information. Ask for Scott for Youth Super Sports. The YMCA builds strong kids, strong families, and strong communites.
